checklist for arrow diagrams

  1. provide a legend that shows location of:
    1. activity name
    2. activity duration
    3. early event time
    4. late event time
    5. activity total float
  2. neatly draw each activity arrow from left to right
  3. there should be one single starting node
  4. there should be a single ending node
  5. include nodes for project milestones
  6. except when joining at i- or j- nodes, arrows should be parallel
  7. all nodes should be numbered
  8. node numbers should always positive integers, and J-node > I-node
  9. skip 5 between each node number
  10. redraw the diagram, as needed, to eliminate crossed activity arrows
  11. use logic and numbering dummies when needed
  12. after calculating the network clearly identify the critical path
